    best trade-in ever

    Hey all!

About a month ago I traded my lightly modded RSX Type S for an '06 STi. I wasn't even planning on buying, me and my roommate were just test driving cars because we were bored on a Saturday. We pull into the Subie dealer and see this Crystal Grey Metallic STi, so we walk over to it. I check the price while waiting for a salesman to get over, and it's only $29,900! wtf? For a new STi? Turns out some dude's family had just won an insurance settlement and they were all getting new cars. This guy bought it for a week and then traded it back in for a Mustang GT. I spoke with him on the phone, and he explained it as "when you get a few million, you test drive by buying." It only had 300 miles on it! I drove it, and three hours later they had my RSX and I had the cheapest "new" STi ever!!!!

And this weekend, I brought it to an SCCA autocross, in AS class. I placed first ahead of an Evo VIII with coilovers and a stock S2000. Only beat the Evo by 0.4 seconds, so it was close, but Subies were owning everyone that day. All the Mitsu guys either sucked at driving or the Subie guys were amazing (an '04 STi did get fastest time of the day).

Anyway, I love this car! Pics follow.

haha thanks, it was a ***** to clean all the sand off. surprisingly, a lot of it got stuck under the wing. guess there's not a very good seal there with the deck lid.

nice! thats a killer deal you got!

kinda dumb to "test drive by buying" though... everytime i buy cars with cash they still make me fill out a ton of paperwork!
