Another question: I have been watching a few videos on streetfire.net and I have noticed alot of STI's with front mount intercoolers. They don't come stock like that correct?

I am looking at purchasing a WRX and the intercoolers are positions right below the hood scoop mid engine (whats the technical term for that). Are there advantages to moving to a larger intercooler front mounted or could a WRX stay with the mid engine mounted one?

front mounts add lag, but are better for high hp applications. A big top mount can be run with bigger turbos as well. We did an FP Green with a big top mount and it worked great. Top mounts are supposed to have less lag than a front mount on the subaru engines.

dont bother with a front mount on the stock turbo.

with a big rotated mount turbo, you have to go with a front mount because of the fitting.

Thanks for that data, I appreciate it

The stock motor's turbo setup does not use the shinny chromb pipping like many aftermarket setups right?

is it recommend to repipe the turbo setup with new piping for better airflow, or would that mess up ur ECU?

Repipe the turbo setup? Do you mean downpipe/up pipe basically exhaust? Or the hoses associated with the intercooler. Yes to all of the above!

I am new to the turbo setup idea, I am sorry lol. The up-pipe and downpipe I assume are the "pipping" i am referring to. When you pop the hood thats what you see lol. I can see why now why people are saying to buy those as a first mod.

Hmm, I think you're thinking of the piping with the front-mount intercooler. When you open the hood, the first thing you notice are the intercooler pipes. To see the downpipe you have to stand by the passenger fender and peek your head in look behind the turbo.

    thats on my own policy..

it was a truck but not biohazard.

its just the area i live in.. insurance is a rip-off!

under my parents it wasn't much cheaper on my '96 accord. my parents have been with Geico for 20+ years. my mom has not had any accidents/tickets and my dad had 1 accident but wasn't his fault (women rear-ended him) and he has no tickets

i believe when he was paying for the insurance it was $250ish/month full coverage.. i am not positive but it wasn't cheap!
