    Help with a tough decision...

    Hey guys,

Well here is my dilemma. Right now I'm driving a sporty rear wheel drive car and I just moved into college, so im forced to keep my car outside, which sucks. So basically, I can't keep my car nice, it won't drive in the snow, and it also doesn't have a lot of room or trunkspace. I was considering trading it for a big suv, unitl my friend mentioned subarus. I've been reading this forum and its been extremely helpful and I'm really excited about subarus. So basically I'm looking for a manual sporty car, that will be great in the snow and has a little extra room to add to the stable. I'm looking at the Impreza WRX and also at the STi. The STi is a bit of a price reach, so I'm wondering what you would reccomend and why? Is the STi's price jump worth it? I'll probably be leasing this car. What kind of performance can I expect in the snow? I look foward to hearing from you guys!

    Welcome to the club!

You have come to the right place! From your description of what you want in vehicular transportation the WRX is perfect.

price jump worth it? Yes, teh STI is hardcore and beefier all around.

The WRX with a few mods can be a very fun ride, too. It depends on what "sporty car" you're used to.

If space is your concern the WRX wagon is a good bet.

WRX will do well in snow toss on some blizak's and your go to go in just about any weather.

Whats your current car? I got to know the suspense is killing me.

I'm guessing some sort of Mustang. I don't know why but when someone leaves the kind of car out of the story it drives me crazy. They do that on the news all the time.

The STI is well worth it if you want the extra performance. But you do give up the "kind" suspension in the wrx. You will feel EVERY bump in the STI. You will also more then likely have INSANE insurance on a STI.

The wrx is a great daily driver. Toss some good snow/all season tires on it and you are very well off. I do not recommend modding a lease vehicle so I will leave all that fun stuff out. A stock WRX with good tires is a very capable car.

my story is some what like yours, when i got out of college i bought a 05 S2000. After a few years, i just needed more room and truck space, yet still wanted a sporty manual car. I bought a 06 WRX TR and dont consider it a down grade at all. I looked at an STI but the insurance and extra money was not worth it to me. Hoped i helped.

Welcome. I just traded my Mustang GT in last week for a WRX and it's the best decision I've ever made. However, my insurance went UP by $50 a month over the mustang... I would highly recommend the WRX to anyone- it's better in every way than my mustang.... Good luck!

thanks for all the replies guys! my current car is an E46 M3, I wanna keep the m3, but i also wanna get something sporty for the snow. So I think the STi will have the performance aspect, plus great in the snow. Your replies have been helpful thanks!

I recently sold my 240sx for a WRX wagon and it was one of the best choices I have made in a long time. Go for the wagon, practical and fun!
