    V8-->wrx

    Hello,

I just purchased a brand new 2006 Subaru WRX 3 days ago (black obsidian pearl sans spoiler) and love the car. I am being religious about the break-in and subscribe to the Subie enigineer's recommendation...I am sure they know best.

So far my pluses list includes: value, style, turbo, new 2.5, awd, mpg, paint color (apparently paint needs help- good thing I hit it with a coat of Zaino when she was new), sufficient torque pre-boost

Minuses- vague gear box, floaty suspension at speed, vinyl shifter boot, weak starter, and a few other minor items not worth mentioning (all-in-all a real performer for the price)

The good thing is that with the money I saved I can have my cake and eat it too. As for now, I have purchased (installed next Monday):
    -SPT exhaust
    -SPT intake
    -SPT heat shield for intake
    -compass mirror with homelink
    -alarm upgrade for shock sensor
    -momo shift knob
    -boost guage
    -all-weather floor mats

    stereo
    -JL amps
    -JL sub
    -Boston Acoustic 6 components

    Whats next?
    -Head Unit (alpine double DIN??)
-Limited Spoiler (My car does not have a spoiler)
-Billstein Coilovers to close that fendor gap and improve handling

OBTW, it is still nasty here in Chicago so no pictures until the weather clears up.

Thanks and I am excited to join the subie ranks.

Is the paint horrible when you have added the paint protectant?

I see what you mean by the paint. I hit it with a coat of Z-5 and Z-2 and it's smooth as glass, but still has some of the swirl marks. I'll do the Dawn, claybar, Zaino thing in the spring.

I needed winter tires for my Goat, so I decided the best bet was a WRX!

I wasn't sure the 18" Bridgestone summer tires on the GTO was the best way to go thru a winter season.

I was able to keep mine pretty nice with frequent enough waxing.

V8 was in my old B6 S4. The car was about out of warranty and that is no way to own an Audi.

Here is a link to the old exhaust rumble:
