Cool I just bought my first STI. So HELLO all!

2007 Urban Grey STI Limited with the 'power package' from SPT.

I am going to try and keep the miles down in this thing if I can. Hello all!

I tried to post pictures (poor ones at best) But because they are duplicates of the ones I posted on the regional forum I am not allowed to dupe them here.

Or for an even quicker upload, use www.imageshack.us It sucks, but on a low bandwidth site like this, it'll be alright.

Thanks to all the above (and below) people that have said hello and welcome to me. I think this is going to be a great forum to be a member of.

It was funny today as I met my first EVO driver today in Champaign, IL (nice blue MK IX) when I drove my old Toyota Camry (due to rain and I really want to keep the miles down on new STI).

Here is my first of MANY questions that I have in regards to Subies:

I drove a 06 WRX Limited wagon (5-speed) for a week waiting for my STI Limited to have the SPT 'power package' stuff put on. With only 500 miles on it, the WRX wagon (230 horse at the crank) feels MUCH stronger and quicker then the new STI with SPT (338 bhp at crank) with 55 miles on it. Will the STI get quicker as I break it in as it has over 100 horsepower more? The WRX wagon really seemed to get fast in fifth over 2500 rpm. The STI feels real tight so far and NOT that fast/quick. Either way I am happy with it (Had better be as I have paid for it) but would hope for a faster feeling car. Thanks in advance.

I've had my 07 STi Ltd since the 19th of oct and already have at least 2500 miles. It's very very difficult to keep miles off this car since I just don't want to get out of it. My first awd car and definately the most fun.
I didn't notice how much power the car had till I actually got to get in to the turbo after 1k miles and my 1st oil change. I've driven a friends 03 WRX and even though he had it tuned with mods mine still feels faster, pulls harder and outmanuevers it over anything I've tried. Break it in then be prepared for your kidneys hurting from the g's.

Cool! I hope mine will be the same way. I drove to the dealer today to ask the mechanic who put the SPT stuff on what the deal was on the lack of acceleration in comparision to my WRX Limited Wagon with only 500 miles on it. They all seem to think that I have a tight motor that needs to really run out over 4500 rpms which I will do AFTER my 500 - 750 mile break in AND first oil change. My old (Only had it a week) Wagon was a killer in fifth from 2500 rpms to past 5000. I wonder whether my SPT stuff will make my car slower then just a bone stock STI. Anyway enjoy your limited as I am mine (although I WILL try to keep the miles down on it).

The gearing in the STi is much different than the WRX, so I would assume that has something to do with the feeling of power.

As far as you break in though. I wouldn't go less than 1000 miles just to be safe. That's me though. Welcome to the club.

I am a newbie too. I can tell you that clubwrx.net is one of the best wrx sites. There is a huge amount of information on these boards. I got a 06 sti and like yours it is fast and corners like no other. Tuffest thing is not taking it over 4000 rpm for the first 1000k. Keeping miles off a STi is tuffer then keeping a crack head off crack, not going to happen. Good news they hold their value pretty good. Welcome to the club have fun drive safe. And read the thread about turning off the seat belt buzzer.
