Howdy guys. I just bought my first new car a 2006 WRX TR version and am loving it.
Got it from the dealer not two days ago, the break in period is driving me nuts but its giving me a good chance to learn manual (which I have never had a car with).

Been reading up voraciously on the car and community and I must say I am really impressed the network that seems to be out there and the loyalty that the car seems to inspire. Any advice for a new owner would be greatly appreciated.

I must say the car is a very pleasent change from the little civic I drove before and the trucks I drove before that. Anyway here are some pics, its all stock and not sure if I am gonna try and modify anything with the car at this point, certainly nothing before the break in and an oil change or two to see how the car wears in.

Welcome to the club and you just made a wise choice on a great car. Just bear with the break in period. I know that you feel like just letting her open up on the road, but please be patient. It will be worth it on the long run.

welcome to the greatest show on earth...

definitely heed everyone's advice about the break in period. you'll definitely appreciate it when your car doesn't take a complete dump on you down the road. or something falls out of your car as you watch someone run over it in your rear view mirror

Oh ya well aware that, when my friends learned I got a new car the first question is always what kind of car is it, the second "Are you going to mod it?"

Really want to learn more about modifactions, as well as build some confidence that i wont screw anything up before I start doing anything like that though.

Definetly don't do bov or cai. Those are bad mods. If you will read up enough on hear you will learn that. Good mods are like cobb stage one and then stage 2.

    Some excellent information about modding:
    The "Good first mods" sticky
And here's great coverage of FAQs from NASIOC.

Just got my 06 WRX as well on the 21st. Would be interested in some Austin club as well.

BTW whats the breakin period? I don't even see a single thread just scanning over the forum, that talks about it.

    Cheers.
