Save yourself 6-10k and a headache and get a 06 WRX. You'll have just as much fun (if not more) modding your own WRX instead of getting the STi.

Yeah, the modding bug is always fun. Plus you'll save a sh!t load of money with the wrx. With the deals I got compared to the STi, the rex was 9 grand less and still pulls rather nicely compared to the STi (which I test drove too). But its your wallet, I think you'll be happy with either choice, but a used STi probably was beaten pretty hard. Drive one and you'll know why!
