    New STIster

Hey all I'm from Jordan/middle east.. I own a 2004 STI.. This website is what iwas looking for since people arround here are not very familiar with Subaru Engine mechanism.. got few questiosn to start with
1-what does uppipe and downpipe refer to
2-the person i bought the car from told me i have an r9 gear.. is that a good thing and what does it mean?
3- i have the central diff light work as auto for liek two minutes then it would start blinking on rear wheel position and the car would actually become rear wheel on it own and i wont be able to put it back on auto unless i turn it off and back on.. whats the problem?
4- would somebody please tell me what diff ratios im getting by scrolling al lthe way fro mthe back to the lock poistion o nthe central diff?
    Thank you guys

in what way are u confused?

Also the '04 STi the up pipe is Catless so really no need too change it.

deleting the Cat on the DP from the turbo helps the exhaust gases escape more efficiently

Let me take a chance at explaining this. The uppipe is the exhaust piece that runs between the exhaust manifolds and the turbo. The uppipe sends the exhaust into the turbo. The downpipe comes off the back side of the turbo and into the rest of the exhaust that runs out the back of the car. The downpipe takes the exhaust out of the turbo.
