    Hi, I'm a fast-driving-aholic.

Obviously I'm new here... I just picked up a 2006 Subaru WRX Limited with a 5MT with the short throw shifter. Black exterior with beige leather interior. 6CD in dash with the "premium" sound package (doesn't sound too premium).

I've only had it a little over two months, put about 3,000 miles on it. I had all the windows tinted: 22% on the visor and back 3 windows with 45% on the front 2. I also hard-wired my Garmen C330 GPS, Sirius Sportster (using fm transmitter though ), and my blue-light (I am a firefighter).

In the future I plan on doing the Hayward and Scott new age header, downpipe and scooby muffler. I am also going to have the exhaust ceramic coated and lined (where it can be). I'm also going to do some samco inlet hoses and a forge dump valve. When I get that done, I'll do the ECU remapping. I am actually in the process of gathering the info I need and setting aside the funds. Going to do that all at once and hopefully soon.

Afterwards, and down the road more I will probably do intercooler hoses, STi intercooler, STi hood scoop and suspension/wheels/tires.

Right now I want to swap my Sportster for the new Sportster 4 (just ordered it) and I want to get it really hard-wired to the stereo. Right now I haver the power hard-wired, but I use the FM transmitter. I want to directly connect it to the stereo. I also want to throw in my Adire Audio 12" Shiva sub and 500w phoenix gold amp that I had in my old car.

I live just northwest of Philadelphia in the suburbs. Moved here after college because thats where my job is. I am "the IT guy" for a small department in a pharmaceutical company by day, and I am a volunteer firefighter by night.

I stumbled across here because I am looking for information on how to do some of the things I stated above. Looked like a good-place to search for that information.

welcome to the club! as many here will tell you, engine management, up/dp should come first as far as performance mods.

Welcome to the club. I second that..

Engine management to me is the most important. You should consider doing this first. It is a well worth mod to consider as it will assist you in modding in the future.

    Good luck
    Looks are everything...

    Welcome

The '06 already has a catless up pipe, an aftermarket one would be unnecesary.
COBBS!.....We got COBBS everywhere meng! COBBS, COBBS, COBBS!

    Yep, up-pipe is catless.

As far as "Engine Management" goes - Are you talking about just remapping the ECU? or going an entirely 3rd party addon to the computer?

If it's just remapping, I am going to do that when I get the exhaust and inlet hoses done. I just need a place in the northeast philly suburbs (Montgomery County) that can tune the 2006+ ECU's (And won't rip me off).

As soon as a find a guy to do the install, I'll order the header, downpipe and muffler from Hayward & Scott. When it all arrives, I'll take off my exhaust and the parts that I am keeping plus the new stuff to be ceramic coated and lined.

As soon as its done, they'll get bolted on, the ECU will be tuned and the car will be good to go for a few months.

Also: Anyone have any info on the 2006's premium sound system? I want to know if it has an AUX in port or any sort of sound input I can pipe my Sirius into? Does it have any sub-outs or mono-outs? I could put a line level on my rear speaker wires, but I'd rather not if the stereo can support a sub.

Southeastern PA rules. I'm in Jersey right now. I grew up around here and went to Bar Anticipation in Belmar. Freaking High School reunion. The weirdest thing, I just kept running in to people from High School.

I get back to my parents house from the bar and the first thing my girlfriend says when I walk in (she was too "tired" to go) was, you've been smoking and you drank too much...

Someone needs to explain that just because Jersey banned smoking in bars, doesn't mean I won't smell like smoke when I get home (at least tha's my story and I'm sticking to it!).

I didn't drive fast tonight, but I know for a fact that over 130mph the garmen C330 starts acting up and going nuts. It says my top speed was 254... Weird.

Anyway, its 3am, I'm going to bed...

Well, car was totaled on Monday Night. Making a left I was hit by an uninsured driver in a pickup. Bad accodent, but I just ordered a 2007 Subaru WRX Limited with the built in Sirius radio!

And the driver is still in township lockup. He's there untill his case goes to county.

Oh well.... Hopefully in a few weeks I'll have the new car and I can start modding. I had the other car tinted, thats as far as I got.

Wow. Sorry to hear about the accident. Uninsured motorists are an epidemic in the Philly area. Very frustrating. I assume everyone walked away which is good.

I work for a pharma company as well (at West Point, PA). If that's where you're working, maybe we can drag race through one of the parking garages someday.
