well No i am not planning on buying new... something pre owned but with the least amount of milage (since i know how many boys love to kill the cars and drop the trannys)

that is not bad to mod... plus I do all my own welding so labor would be nonexistant.

    interesting....

Now how does the mechanics of it hold up? how often do people say they had to take theirs in for services? anything about it that u really dont like?

anything Electrical? i hear VW GTI's have that problem..?

    First, Hi Emily!

Second, the SRT-4 is a fast car, but thats about where it ends. The reliability, styling, and 365days of fun aspect dont give the neon much to go on. The WRX is about as fast, more reliable, and has full power windows/locks, and a much more refined interior.

Third, you cant post images in your signature. Only avatar and text-signatures.

Fourth, you can get into the mid to low 13's w/ a Turbo Back exhaust and a tune. Or you can get into the 12's with a Turbo upgrade, injectors, intercooler, exhaust, tune, etc like me. I would say that I have spent about $1900 on my stage 4 mods.

Lastly, these cars are very reliable. I have had my car for about 14 months = 29,000 mi and I have never had an issue that was due to the factory. She gets regular oil changes etc. No issues. I think the older WRX's got TSB's for the clutch, etc. But the new ones are fine.

mechanicly its a sound strong car. transmissions only blow up because people dont know how to drive them right. electrical problems arent really a problem. ive read that a lot of peoples clocks die out. mine did. but thats nothing major at all. you can just replace it with a gauge pod.

VW's are deffeniotly notorious for bad electronics haha

    and welcome to The Club!!!!

Well of course I'm gonna say WRX because I'm bias.

But BOTH cars offer great pros and cons:

    Similarities:
*Great price for what you get
    *Fast/Quick and handle well
*Both cars are unique and have a sporty look/feel
*Sport compacts = easier to find parking!

    Differences:
*WRX is AWD, and everyone knows AWD > *
*The SRT-4 is cheaper and easier to mod
*The SRT-4 does NOT have power windows in the back!!!! (This was my #1 turn-off! lol)
    *The Subaru is more reliable
*The SRT-4 has better paint (rumoured)

I recommend test-driving both, and the answer will be clear. Good luck on your search!

oh man, where do I start
It seems to depend on the dealership mostly, if you do a search on this site you might find a few threads about that subject. I'm personally out of warrantee so I haven't had to deal with that myself.

I have owned both. Better all around smarter car was the WRX. The SRT-4 is a ton of fun and a great time to cruise and enjoy. I am now Stage 1. Evo eater.
