    next mod for an 06....

ok so i got a turboback exhaust and lowering springs a short shifter and a BOV.

i just sold some stuff and am thinking about either getting cobb stage 1 suspension upgrade & lightweight pulley(cuz suspension mods are always fun)
    or cobb ap.

i heard w/ turbobacks is a good idea to get an AP.
i really like how fast my car is now, and really dont want to get itmuch faster, and spending over $600 for a mod that will make my car faster doenst seem like such a smart move, moneywise.
i'd personally rather have sum nice suspension mods.
i got the tein h-techs and love em. i think with more suspention mods such as the cobb stage 1, along w. my springs i would be having much more fun driving.

my problem is i heard that after getting turbo back exhaust systems, it is needed or reccomended to get an AP.
would i be harming my car if i dont get an AP???

    what would u guys do??

    thanx,
    saeed

well.... have you got to the upper rpm's in 4th gear.... i have and fuel cut isn't fun. i was in the same boat as you are. i was hesitant at first about getting the Cobb AP, but i did and im in love with this thing. The power band is much smoother and pulls very well. My best time is 13.2 @101

Well to me this is a no brainer. First ditch the BOV.

Second you state in your own post you are happy with the power, so no use in changing it now. Just get some sway bars and springs on the car. Then I'd really look into some new tires. After that I'd get some good street brake pads as the stockers show some fade (atleast in my driving and the pads are the cheapest way to help this).

Then after all that if you want to upgrade the power farther you can. It's my logic that I never have time to use the 230 hp my car came with, so as of now I'm in no position to upgrade that. I can however overdrive the stock suspesion on any day of the week.

On a side note how in the world are you guys driving the stock wrx to get fuel cut. The thing falls on it's face past 5k it's all I can do to shift at 6k let alone 6,500.

opening up the exhaust flow on the 2.5l put the stock wastegate past its limits as far as bleeding off exhaust...hence overboosting and hitting fuel cut.

I put my TBE on about a week before I received my AP. I hit fuel cut in 3rd-5th gears. I put the AP on, and it was faster, smoother, and no fuel cut.

Plus with the AP you will be able to set yourself up for the future incase you want more, or less power reliably.

Like 302 said, get brake pads, suspension and tires, that will make your car much faster for everyday driving. Besides short bursts of acceleration, you won't really use the 250hp you have on the street, but you will use the suspension, whether on purpose or accidental

Anything would be better than the tractor tires that come from the factory. The only reason I still have my factory tires on is because my land is down a couple of miles of dirt/gravel roads, and has a nice long gravel driveway to have some serious fun in my car But when I get ready to race it, I will be slapping on some sticky's. Although I do like the tossability of the m+s tires, very fun to drive past their limits.

EDIT: Why are a bunch of the 06 owners going to the older tail lights? They look like donkey balls compared to the 06 stockers, especially on the aspen white FANTASTICO!

yeha i think after my AP im gonna get some nice sticky tires for the summer w/ alotta rubber. i def need the AP to stop the fuel cut tho. and for the tails.. i always hated them.. the 04/05's IMO look way better especially on aspen whites.

nighthawk, did the AP totally, 100% eliminate all of your feul cut problems? I am interested in stage 2 but $1000 is a little pricey(including a catted downpipe). By the way, how is the paint holding up on your wheels?

it should get rid of all your ful cut problems....unless of course your running some sort of MBC thats set over the cobb fuel cut.......the cobb map simply adjust the wastegate duty cycles thus increasing peak boost.....which is why they raise the limit...not rid of it
