    looking to get a wrx

noobe here, trying to get some answer, I'm thinking bout getting a wrx, used or new, before getting it it'll be nice to know some of the draw backs for the 04, 05 and 06 models, i've heard of some tranny problems, thats bout it, and also i understand the first mod should be the ecm, i really wanna stay away from mods that will make the car unreliable, but also looking for more recomendations, bolt ons and things like that..... i like the sti, so probably an 05 wrx sti will be in the picture, or a new 06 wrx sti, so if the recommendations can be based on those two models will be greatly appreciated thx

As far as i know the 06 is the best WRX yet (bigger brakes, engine, and various other things) wrx's don't have the strongest gearsets but if you treat them good they will last.

Good mods: Up Pipe, Downpipe or turboback, Engine Management, etc.

Bad mods: Blow off valve, Intakes, and neons

    Not considering the 02-03?

If it's an STI, he doesn't have to worry about the tranny.

True, I wasn't talking about STi's but good point, I don't think you would need an up pipe either with the STi
