Things you wished you checked before taking ownership (2015)

    Hi guys,

Looks like my 2015 is finally coming in this week after months of waiting. After reading these forums and seeing varying issues (gas door / rattles). I'm wondering if there are any other specific items you recommend I check before taking ownership as this is my first wrx.

    Thanks all in advance :-)

Under the front bumper for massive scraping. I know when they unload these cars they tend to scrape them on the truck and of course the buyer never looks under there. I noticed mine and they had it replaced and repainted that day.

Thoroughly check the paint. I have these imperfections in the clear coat under and around the hood scoop (painted plastic area). They look like scratches almost and run perpendicular from each other. You have to look at them at the right angles to see them but they are definitely noticeable. So give it a real detailed look when inspecting the paint.

Ill second this. The plastic insert in the hood scoop that is painted can have like streaky marks where the paint ran. I've seen it on like 1 out of 8 cars. I think they hang that part when they paint it and if they put the paint on too thick it runs.

True but this would not be a deal breaker for me, as they know this is an issue and there already is a TSB with a fix. The parts to repair this under warranty are making their way into the US as we speak so anyone buying a WRX going forward will automatically have the fix installed or have the part and labor provided at no charge by a dealer. Until then you can always pop the gas door by pulling the latch and then prying the gas door using a credit card.

Yeah, don't let them drill holes in the front bumper. I still can't believe they did that only to install their nameplate, which I promptly removed. Also, don't let them wash it either. I can tell they used a dirty rag to dry mine. I can see fine scratches where they ran the rag across the side.

Maybe I'm different.... I check tire pressures and fluid levels before I sign. Oil levels low, I ask for another vehicle.
