Speaking of AWD, wife's Highlander did really well with 50% or less tread of all season's. I was impressed. We have '99 Jeep and the 4WD with new all season tire was only good for staying straight and getting out of the snow. There wasn't much for a control. One wrong move and it spun out easily.

The Rogue will have a little more ground clearance than the WRX, but I found them to be less sure on snow and ice when test driving them earlier this year. If you feel confident in the Rogue then you will not find trouble in the WRX. I think you will have the same AWD system we have in the Forester that we ended up buying. I wouldn't want to take the WRX on some of the rutted hills we took the Forester through on its test drive, but I probably wouldn't take the Rogue on them either.

Only if the WRX is a CVT.
