New owner of 2014 WRX STi from Houston

Hey guys my name is Dave, Just recently was very lucky in getting a car i've been wanting for the past 4 years, as a graduation gift and late 18th birthday gift.
Its a Rally Blue 2014 WRX STi it is lightly used at only 6.5k Miles on it. Just wondering what are some tips and advice you can give me as a new owner and this being my first performance car. Also i wanted to do some mods, such as Coilovers, Blow off valve. But i believe my dad purchased an extended warranty with the car so i do not want to risk voiding the warranty or it will have been a waste of money for him. Will these mods void the whole warranty or only parts and if there is a loop hole of someway to get it through subaru or a certified specialist and it not void the warranty can you please let me know before i go further with these ideas! LOL
Thanks! Happy to be joining the community !

Welcome and congrats on the ride. First and foremost, enjoy the ride and learn the road safely. Learn the value of what your driving and just understand its limits and how dangerous they can be. Second forget about the BOV. If your old man has an extended warranty then don't wast your money or time with mods for now. Later on you can play with modding when you know you can drive the thing and afford the maintence, modds them self and also if something happens to fail on you (not that it will, if everything is upgraded properly).

Just enjoy the ride and drive safe. Now go post some pics.

    Cheers

Thanks for the advice ! Very much appreciated. I haven't had much time to drive the car yet due to not getting the insurance set up, so far just around the neighborhood and to groceries down the street. But have already fell in love with the handling and deep rumble! Also nice vampire set up in your pic ! I used to shoot a all black g6r loved it ! Haha. I will upload pics of the car as soon as I get home

Welcome to ClubWRX! Man you are one lucky 18yo! ajax is right though, understand what you are driving, it is not a civic and these cars in the wrong hands can be dangerous, no it not a 500whp machine, but they are fast, but they are fun! Ill be more on point about the blow off valve though. DO NOT BUY ONE. EVER. Or as long as you are running the stock turbo and stuff. They can actually do damage to our cars. Theres a reason subaru put a full recirculating BPV on these cars. I would recommend reading through these stickies to familiarize yourself with tuning, and upgrading these cars. Good luck, congrats, and post pics!

Congrats on the Sti. some dealers can be strict with mods you put on so i would make sure they wont void anything if you do. Best of luck.

Anytime buddy, Yes the boxer rumble is a significant part of the satisfaction of driving these cars. I really hope you enjoy your ride and i cant stress how important it is to understand how it drives.

Ya, i love my g6r, its shoots ropes and is amazingly accurate. The thing is super reliable and durable. Just won the EPL 3-man on sunday. Twisted Vibe is team name.
