    Longtime WRX owner..new 2015 WRX

Hi, I just traded in my 2003 WRX wagon that I bought new. I loved it so much, I bought a new Limited wrx (auto). I read the published mileage ratings, but I also read that people seem to get much more than that. Can anyone comment on the actual mileage they with this superb car? Thanks

    Congrats Freddy!

I bet that was hard trading in the '03 WRX. I am going to be trading my '07 WRX in on a '15 WRX and that's gonna be hard. I bought mine brand new with 8 miles and now she has 116,800 miles.

It looks like the CVTs are posting a bit better mileage than the 6MT, but the 6MT should be no slouch. A lot of factors at play here:
    1. Subaru took great strides to reduce the pumping losses in the FA20, should net 5% better economy
    2. DI heads with asymmetrical pistons allow lean-burn during cruise (stratified injection), should net about 10% better fuel economy
    3. Tall highway gearing in 6th gear -- should net 10-15% better economy on the highway

So, since the 2014 WRX was advertised at 25mpg highway, theoretically the new WRX should be around 31.25mpg highway. In reality, I think Subaru underrated the 2015 WRX's economy.

man, im so close to buying a '15 also - and i cant seem to make up my mind on 6MT or CVT. I hear stuff saying the CVT is great, then motortend says its junk .. but the mileage numbers in auto seem ok too.

either everyone is driving around like crazed kids getting crappy mileage or something is up. still don't know why the auto is rated lower than the 6MT ?

i need to come to a decision fast . all this info is helping

The auto figure was taken from a mixture of driving in i, s and s# modes. If it were taken in just i mode it would be rated as better than the 6MT.

HEY guys, that's it - I made up my mind and now im back to CVT. why? simply for MPG if anything. I have been searching and reading everything about it and I found an excellent article . it explains why the previous models in CVT get much better mileage than the MT.

Also - I had heard that the reason the sticker at the dealer shows less than the MT, has to do with the fact that they tested all three Auto modes to come up with an average. that makes sense. read this.

Subaru CVT - Why you should have it and when you shouldn't.
