    New Scooby Owner!!!

Finally after months and months of searching for a wrx within my budget i found one!!! Was really excited about owning a WRX that i overlooked alot of stuff, that i normally would have noticed, but come on WRX!!!! I purchased a 2002 bugeye for $3500. A decent amount of work was done to the car by the previous owner who knows these cars inside and out. So i pretty much sat there staring dumbfounded while he spoke, not sure what all it meant lol. The car def needs alot of dents pulled and some rust taken care of and to top it off a new paint job. My car is lowered sitting on 17s helix downpipe NO CAT! and 3in piping out the end STI TMIC Cold Air Intake, and a lighter flywheel i believe. Car sounds amazing. I was thinking about a bigger turbo nothing thats gonna cause me to make a track car but just a little something bigger possibly a turno off the STI model VF39 i believe it is. but any who just thought i get on here and see what everyone thinks. advice is always welcome seeing how im a new scooby owner finally

How much modding would i have to do to my car to upgrade my turbo from stock to a vf39? Im not looking to do anything too major yet. slow and steady wins the race. I dont have upgraded injectors yet (not that i know of) but do have a walboro 255 fuel pump. Just have a gates kit done not too long ago. Im curious about a slightly bigger turbo and from what i read around vf39 seems a good choice. trying to get some feed back before i spend any kind money on anything.

-Produce a mod list and we can give you better advice
-What cold air intake do you have?
-Can you also get pictures of the engine bay and post it up? We should be able to see any mods that you might not be aware of.

Knowing the car's history is important and before you do any mods whatsoever I would have a compression test and boost leak test done first. Fix any CELs you may have. etc. You need the car to be in top shape first.

That being said, If you aren't already there I would go "stage 2" first before a turbo swap, which is downpipe + tune at minimum. It sounds like you already have a turbo back exhaust, but is it tuned? Turbo swap can commonly be referred to as "stage 3."

By the time you get to the turbo swap, assuming you get there, the upgrade to vf39 isn't all that complicated comparatively speaking. It retains the same inlet diameter and fits in stock location. You will however need higher capacity injectors and fuel pump, exhaust pipes, and a larger intercooler at the very least.

To post pictures, you'll need to either upload them to imageshack or another image hosting website, or upload them as an attachment to this website when you post. PM me if you need more help on posting pictures.

Thanks for the welcome guys. First off mod list is very small to begin with. like i said a turbo swap is what i had in mind. I have a knn air filter the long ass one. the stock intake is completely removed all the plugs and wires are still there though and are working. I have a Helix downpipe no cat and three in out to the back. not too sure of the make on the piping or the muffler itself. I have a tmic with a turbo xs 50/50 bov(wish it was louder) the fuel pump was upgraded to the 255. and like i said i believe a light weight pulley. was told the check engine light is on because of the pulley code said phantom miss. but the car runs top notch. I believe the injectors are stock probably not original but replaced. so i would like to upgrade but no idea which size to goto. as for it being tuned no idea. the kid who i got it from loved the car to death and was very particular with the maintenance so he may have had it tuned. so for a mod list for the future
    bigger turbo
    bigger injectors
    cobb pipes
    sway bars
    tower braces
new struts( all around better suspension)
thats about it that i can think of at the moment as for pics that will have to wait till tomorrow sorry guys.
    thanks for the help
