Looking into buying a new to me Subie

Good morning / afternoon to all.
Just recently I found that I'm going to become a daddy and so I'm going to be looking for a more kid friendly car. Right now I have a 2013 Genesis Coupe and as I'm sure some of us know coupes aren't exactly the most kid friendly vehicle for car seats. I've always been a fan of Evo's, but a co-worker of mine is pushing me towards the Subie side of the rivalry
Either later today or probably tomorrow morning I'll be looking at this fella and was wonder what your all expertise thoughts are? I've skimmed through the FAQs and things to look for, but is there anything else that may appear leary to ya'll? Looks pretty legit and am going to try and talk them down a grand or two.

    Thank you for any input!

2.5L DOHC SMPI 16-valve VVT intercooled high-boost turbo 4-cyl boxer engine w/ 6 Speed Manual transmission

That's an odd description. Haha and it's a hatch not a wagon.

Pretty sure I've read around here and other forums that the 08/09 models had a lot of problems. Do more research.

So long as there aren't any major problems with this particular model I can live with a neutered turbo. Not saying I'm looking for blessings, but if initial survey from pictures say it at least looks good and mileage isn't an issue (yes, saw the mile high club post), then I'll continue to contact the dealership.
Thanks again for your insite :-)

Guys, the OP is looking at a 2009 STI. The 08+ STIs have the same turbo and same HP.

The WRX varied between 08-10 and 11+...

On mileage, it's getting toward 100K miles...budget for a timing belt replacement in the near future.

Oh well, dealer doesn't seem interested in trying to sell. Not returning phone calls and seems like they want to give me 4k less than what others have offered on trade.
Guess I'll keep looking. Thanks for the help today though

Yeah that dealer seems shady just from reading the ad.

For 24k you're only a couple grand shy from a 2014 base WRX. I suggest that over a used, and most likely beat on, STI.

    Looks like it Jimbo...
Is a base WRX really worth it compared to the STI?

I'll ask a simple question: Will you track this car?

If yes, then the extra $10K for the STI might make sense. Because you can't realistically drop $10K into a WRX and expect to get a STI.

If no and it's going to be your DD, then the WRX makes more sense. Pocket the $10K you saved and spend it on something else...or save it.

Personally, I love my WRX. It's fun and plenty fast. I couldn't justify spending an additional $10K for a STI.

It'll be a DD and something I can toy around with and mod. I was looking towards the STI because from what little I know the tranny is more durable so more mod friendly.
