New Guy, long time WRX fan...

Hello... Name is Mike... I signed papers on a 2014 WRX Premium sedan in WRB w/ short shifter last night :-) Can't wait to get my hands on it! She's still in the plastic!

This will be my first WRX... I've loved the car for a long time though... And really wanted the current style.... Being in New England I have to find some tires for it... Any thoughts?

Well anyway, nice to be here... Hope to see you in the forums!

    Mike

Congrats, get snow tires! People like the Blizzak WS70 or General Artic Altimax on 16'' steelies 215/55.

    Congrats and welcome!

A lot of folks call up tirerack and they'll hook you up with steelies and winter tires in the appropriate sizes. Mine were within 1 mm of stock radius, iirc.

I have the Blizzak LM60 snow tires, and I'm very happy with them. Post pics when your baby arrives!

    Thanks for the replies!

I have a new set of 215/55 16 Mastercraft snow tires with about 2,000 miles on them... Currently on my Mazda 6... I'm hoping these will get me through this winter on a proper fitting set of rims...

Are there any 16" Subaru rims I can use? I was looking at tire rack... wheels and sensors will run me about $570 shipped...

I'm thinking about using the rims off of my 2000 Impreza RS. They are 16x7 with a +53 offset. They should fit my 2011 WRX. What tire size would you recommend to make up for the missing inch?

Congrats, great car and I love your color choice.

I am running Blizzak WS70's and am very happy. My local Tires Plus dealer matched Tirerack's price.

Thanks! IMO a WRX has to be Rally Blue

I ran the Blizzaks last year on my Mazda and liked them... I got a new set of Mastercrafts this year from a friend who didn't need them so I went with those... so far they've done well...

    those should work fine.

Lot of people use the older bugeye wheels, Leggy GT Snowflakes, and other late Subaru wheels.

For my winter setup, I'm running 16" steelies with Blizzak WS70s from tirerack. They really make a difference...

My son and I just brought her home... Of course I'll be waiting for my snow tires to be put on it before driving it again... but that's ok

    Congratulations!

Just purchased one as well (and am having Blizzaks installed as well).

I am noticing a few things that others have commented on as well-- that there is a fair amount of wind / road noise at highway speeds and that the stock radio kinda sucks.

I am interested to know if you discover (or know of) and quick fixes for either.

Changing the headunit will require an adapter to maintain audio controls and bluetooth (the bluetooth works quite well). As for road noise-- I think it is worsened by my ski rack (and will likely get even worse with the Blizzaks).

    thoughts?

Have fun-- mine drives like a dream.
