    New to Subaru

Hey guys how's it going. I've been a proud owner of a 2000 prelude. I've recently come across a 1999 2.2 impreza coupe. I love these cars but know nothing about them. It's completely stalk and it has 190miles on it. Does this sound like a good deal and is there anything I should look for as far are reliability wise?

Look at the used buying checklist thread. It has some good general info. Also, make sure all the maintenance has been done since its rather high mileage, timing belt is a big one.

Older base Imprezas are very reliable...almost to the tune of your older Prelude. You'll not have as much power as the Prelude and you'll lose a few MPGs if you do go to the Impreza. Unless you're getting the Impreza for $2k or something...I wouldn't bother with that high of mileage (how much is on your Prelude?). You're going to be coming up on its SECOND timing belt change soon enough.

I'm probably still gonna keep my prelude. I'm gonna try to write down all the important questions to ask him when I drove it this Sunday. My prelude has about 170k on it. I got it when it had 90k. Just about every engine component has been replaced tho lol.

Hard to say if it is a good deal if you don't tell us what he is selling it for. KBB says this car would be worth $1400 in excellent condition. I would have a knowledgeable mechanic look over any car I was going to buy used so I made sure I wasn't buying a POS that was just going to be a pain in my ass.

Oh sorry, thought I said. He's looking to get 3500 for it.

I'd also plan on putting a lot of RS parts on it.

If it was in great running condition and passed the mechanic's approval and I wanted it then I would buy it if I could get him to come down $2K off the asking price, which he is probably not going to do.
