    n00b with a question

Hello everyone, I just got a 05 WRX and I love it!!!

What exactly is this? It seems to be a turbo timer but while driving it displays some other numbers almost like a wideband. Is it a boost controller also?

What all can it do? And what button does what? Is it factory?

Yeah definitely not stock. Maybe take some pics with it on, with some info on what it does when, and what range of numbers it moves through. Or a video with it on while driving. Could possibly be some type of turbo timer though. Any data (brand, model number, etc) visible? I see what looks like a data sticker on the bottom maybe. In fact, I'm going to google turbo timer and see if anything looks similar.

Identified as a turbo timer. Now take it off, and start poking around for what else the previous owner may have done incorrectly.

I don't understand how people can decide, buy, and install things like that. A quick search on any subaru forum would have told them not to install it lol.

    definitely a +1.

no need for a turbo timer on our cars. Remove it and start poking around to see what the p.o. has done to it.

What exactly is so bad about a turbo timer? While driving it displays numbers from 14.32 - 16 something and changes with throttle response

A timer in itself is not bad. However, our cars have absolutely no need for one. Therefore, usually, you can conclude that the previous owner did not do a good job researching their modifications.

As far as the numbers go...not sure what that particular model also monitors. Those almost sound like a/f numbers, but i don't know.

Looks like "the numbers" are battery voltage... fairly useless.
