    ANOTHER NEW MEMBER AND ANOTHER NEW QUESTION

    HI GUYS I HAVE JUST BROUGHT A 2001 2.0 SUBARU WRX TURBO AND HAVE A TICKING NOISE FROM THE RIGHT HAND SIDE AT THE BACK , PEOPLE HAVE SAID TO ME ITS BOTTOM END BUT ITS NOT THAT DEEP OF A SOUND AND ITS MORE FROM THE TOP , I HAVE BEEN A FEMALE MECHANIC NOW SINCE 1996 SO I KNOW MY WAY AROUND CARS BUT NEVER WORKED ON THESE ENGINES BEFORE , ITS BEEN MY DREAM TO HAVE ONE OF THESE CARS SO NOW I HAVE ONE IM READY TO GET MY HANDS DIRTY THE OIL HASNT BEEN CHANGED SINCE 2007 COULD THIS BE A CAUSE? I THINK ITS VALVE CLEARENCE ISSUES OR IF THEY HAVE THEM HYDROLIC LIFTER NOT WORKING ?

    LOUD NOISE!!!

    My guess would be a spun rod bearing, since it's generally caused by oiling issues and is a common failure for 2.0L turbo subarus.
    Again this is just a guess based on the info provided.

    THE NOISE IS LOUD TICKING BUT ONCE THE ENGINE IS A BIT WARMER ITS LESS NOISEY AND WHEN YOU BRING THE REVS UP ITS MAKES THE NOISE VERY VERY QUIET, IT DRIVES FINE AND DOESNT MISS A BEAT , . TO THE OTHER QUESTIONS I HAVENT DONE NOTHING APART FROM CARS , AND YEAH A MALE MECHANIC LOL Shift+R improves the quality of this image. Shift+A improves the quality of all images on this page.
