The sedan is more rare, and actually has more storage capacity because the back seats fold down

You don't know what you're talking about:

    Manufacturer's dimensions:

WRX Sedan trunk: 11.3 cubic feet.
WRX Hatch trunk: 19.0 cubic feet (44 cubic feet with the seats down).

EPA Interior Volume WRX Sedan: 93.2 cubic feet
EPA Interior Volume WRX Hatch: 94.6 cubic feet

Even with the seats down, explain to me why you think the sedan has more storage capacity?

I thought the hatch seats didn't fold down?? I guess not? Something about the child seat anchors are easier to access in the sedans too I've heard??

Yeah, hatch seats fold down. idk where the tethers are in a sedan--but in a hatch they aren't hard to access.. They are intrusive though. They are on the floor all the way in the back.

Tether location isn't a deal beaker for me though. I just prefer the looks of a hatch. Bonus is that my dog rides in the hatch and keeps most of his fur back there.

Why do you think Subaru chose to homologate the STI in hatch form for FIA WRC and Group N rally competition? Because they were getting their ass kicked by hatchbacks from Ford and Citröen in WRC rallying. That's why in 2008, the STI was also offered as a hatch.
I'm a hatch owner and love my car, but I was fairly certain the two shared the same wheelbase. I thought the cars were pretty much identical until you got to the rear.

When the Hatch was first introduced in 08 I thought it was f ugly and swore up and down to never own one. But life throws you in unsuspecting ways and I find myself with a hatch sti and loving it. Looks wise it grew on me over time and once I actually seen them more on the street I learn to like it. Also the practicality of a hatch is immense compare to a sedan. The trunk is bigger and since its a hatch you have that big opening in the rear for extra storage with the seat folded back. I've taken my hatch on camping trips many times and you just cant beat folding back the seats, putting some blankets down and open up the rear trunk door and watch the stars with your family all in the car. Or with the seats folded down, make yourself a portable bed for a nice late night spontaneous romp with your girl You get performance as the sedan version but with the hatch you can actually use the Subaru like it was meant to be. All in all pick one that is base on your lifestyle and taste. That hatch fits my so I I love it. Good luck

    Length/Width/Height:

    4-door - 180.3"/70.7"/58.1" (57.9 STi)
    5-door - 173.8"/70.7"/58.1" (57.9" STi)

    Wheelbase:

    4-door - 103.3"
    5-door - 103.3"

Only difference is 6.5" in length.. And you know..the whole shape

Though at times I do wish I did order the hatch, though once I get my STI wing on the trunk I wont be as jealous

That's fine, except you can fit almost TWICE that much in the hatch, even without folding down the seats.
