    No.

It is far too modified with far too many miles.

Would the parts be worth anything in case it explodes?

Yeah, run away from that one.

If you only have about a $5.5k spending limit, you might be looking at the wrong cars.

Unfortunately, $5,500 will only get you a parts car, or something like this with 3 tires in the grave. How about looking for a lightweight '90s Impreza L or Outback Sport to kick around, or better yet, save up and expand your budget?

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you?

I live in central TX, and a couple months ago I almost bought an Impreza Outback Sport for $550 that would have undoubtedly out lasted this WRX by many years.. last I saw that thing was still kicking around CL.

Last fall I helped my ex buy a 2003 Civic LX for $4900. After fixing a few leaks it was good to go for another 100k.

I'm going to tread lightly here as you know your finances better than anyone, but based on what details you've given, I'm not sure a WRX or STI would be the best choice in your financial situation. Bear in mind insurance will be significantly more than your Wrangler, and all WRXs and STIs require premium fuel, as well as stringent adherance to maintenance schedules. It sounds like you need an inexpensive and reliable daily driver. Along those lines, I'd recommend a Civic, GC-era Outback Sport, or similar vehicle.

Best of luck in your search!

hey man 1100 every 2 weeks isnt bad. 5500 is not a bad down payment on a newer wrx either. i put 6300 down on my wrx through my credit union and got a $24k 2011 wrx at only 325/month and my insurance is only 130 a month. i only make about $1200/month give or take depends on my over time, and i support my family of 4 with just my income, its totally doable. with 2200 a month your sitting pretty on a brand new wrx even, TBH...... 26k will get u a new one or even cheaper maybe since dealers want to move the 13's and make room for 14's

Guess the question now is...does OP want to go in debt? I say save up and pay cash for something nice. Its going to take a while to find a good specimen, so just save more while you're waiting on the right one to come.

And the car looks kinda trashy, I wouldn't buy it.

I honestly wouldn't buy any DD with 191k on it, regardless of what it was.

I might.. but only if I was getting it for less than $900, it was well maintained, and I had another reliable car to drive that I wanted to keep miles off of. Having a garage and tools to fix things is helpful too.
