No one can answer the question with the information given...

    1) What engine/power modifications are done to the car?
    2) What are the plans for the car?
    3) Do you plan on custom tuning for either?

Those people are idiots. The benefit of a small turbo (like come stock on your car) is fast spool and transient response. A FMIC will not help you with that, so I would recommend against it.

You need an uppipe installed yesterday. The pre-turbo cat has been known to disintegrate and get sucked into the turbo. Before considering any kind of tuning, you need to get that addressed.

If you're not getting a custom tune, no aftermarket intercooler will help you. If anything, it can only hurt you (by putting you into untuned load sites).

A fairly straightforward DIY, if a bit time consuming, and irritating at a few points. There are writeups here on how to do it.

Look at my build. I got an obscene amount of horsepower out of a top mount intercooler. Several tuners have said not to push the TMIC over 400whp. Well I did... and it worked out great!
