buy the newest wrx you can afford.

if that means buying new, then go that route.

buying a used car of this type is always risky. its tough to find one that hasnt been modded and abused. they ARE out there but sometimes you will pay almost the same as buying a new one. (assuming youre looking at 2011+ body styles)

I'd say buy new if you could afford it. If you buy used then the person has set the car up the way they wanted it. If you buy new you can put your own touch and make it the way you want it to be. But it boiles down to if you can afford it. Hope it helps. Good luck

Always buy what you can afford. Buy used if you don't like depreciation. Buy new if you want absolute piece of mind.

    I dunno.

How much money do you have? (rhetorical) That is the only thing that is going to determine the answer.

    Got a lot - New
    Got a little - Used

A complex decision, and a debate which has plagued car forums for a long time.
I'm a big advocate of buying used cars...but if you're looking at used sports sedans, owned by a young demographic, tending to be modified, that's a little different. Then, you need the benefit of someone who really knows the cars to have a look and make sure everything is in good nick.

I can serve as a cautionary tale. Bought a 2002 WRX in 2006, thinking that everything looked good. It failed leakdown and the turbo started going bad a couple of years later, and I wound up with a new engine. Though, truth be told, I probably could have driven it that way for a while longer. I wanted a new engine.

So this time around, because it came within my allotted budget for a sports car, I bought new. It's nice once in a while to buy new.

    This.

I was very concerned about buying a used WRX. Who drives one of these slowly? But I considered anything up to a year old. I very quickly realized these cars hold their value incredibly well and I was looking at year old cars that were almost the same price as new. That, combined with the 1.9% finance offer from Subaru on a new one made up my mind pretty quickly.

most 2009+ wrx's in my area cost within $1000 of new 2013 wrx msrp. some even cost the same or more than msrp.

if the market in your area is similiar might as well buy new since they hold their value so well

Find out how much used cost in your area and compare too your best new car offer. You will probably be surprised at how close those numbers are.
