    Baby Blues

Hiya guys! I'm new here, as well as to owning a subie.
Well... actually i won't own it for a few more months. My cousin's got a 02 WRX. I'm getting a pretty good deal on it so i'm taking it. Quite a few miles on it, sadly. And.. the worst part... IT'S SILVER (DUN DUN DUNNNNN).
Not sure how the rest of you feel about silver, but i absolutely hate it. I'm also not a big fan of the bug eyes (i do like them, but just not as much as the 04-05 headlights).
SO, basically what i'm asking is, what do you wonderful people have to offer as to what i can do to it? Like, Paint schemes, stance, interior mods, engine mods yadda yadda yadda. Keep in mind i'm a teenager pulling in an hourly wage. So i don't have a tooonnn of money. Though i'm willing to work doubles or even triples at the shop if need be.
    Thanks dudes and dudets!

Buy a Honda. These cars are too much for an inexperienced driver. The older models can also be more expensive to maintain and pulling an hourly wage may not allow you to maintain the car how it should be. Your insurance will also probably be sky high. Just a few things to keep in mind before buying the car.

It's your cousin's car, so you're familiar with it. Have you driven it? In the end, whatever changes you make to it should be about what you think needs to be changed/improved.

If you are a teenager and don't have a lot of money, do not waste money on paint and "stance"

You should save money for maintenance items. The only modification you should do at this point is replace the up pipe (which IMO should be mandatory maintenance)

This won't be my first car. I've already drivena 1999 civic and sold it because i wasn't into the whole "v etch" thing. I've been in the subie a few times. I actually borrowed it for a snowboarding trip up to crystal mountain (in michigan) this past year. Inexperienced- maybe not as much as you think. But greatly appreciate the thoughts.
What i really want to do it go rallystyle. Blue paint and gold (or yellow) bbs rims. But, like Drew said, an hourly wage might not be able to get that goin.

Are you aware of how much paint costs? Up here in the Great White North, you'd be paying the amount your car's worth and a half just to change the color into a worse than stock paint job. And stock Subaru paint's pretty bad.

As far as changing the bugeye look, from what I've found you have a few options:

    1. Morettes (very rare, the route I went with)

    2. JDM STi Projectors (also pretty rare, $1400+)

    3. Orciari Projectors (high quality and quite rare, although not as rare as the real WRC ones they replicate)

    4. Koji mod (search it, just modifying the stock headlights, very cheap)

    5. Retrofit (see OEM HID Projector Retrofit Parts & Service Specialists I Lightwerkz.net )

    6. Cheap Ebay halos/projectors (don't bother, their light output is awful and in most cases don't even come wired correctly from stock)

I would also recommend looking into a JDM STi scoop (1 inch taller than stock, comes unpainted so you'd have to do that yourself, DO NOT buy the 04 peanut style as it looks ridiculous on bugeyes)

These will probably make your bugeye aggressive enough, if not, you can look into lip kits or aftermarket bumpers. Search around on NASIOC for parts as well as they have a much larger for sale section. Good luck!

I can get the paint for half off from where i work. I'm a detailer so if i ask my boss to dock my pay i can get the paint for half the cost and apply it myself.

I do really like the morettes but i haven't found any close by.
i'm also thinking about putting a highrise spoiler on the back since there isn't one. Yes? No? Maybe?

You'd dock your pay for paint when you said you're a teen who can't mod because he is an hourly wage worker? Sounds smart.
