    Decision to mod...

I decided to post this in the noob section as I have not been active here in the last 7-8 months.... apologies fellas but I have been very busy and the 2012 WRX has not been driven as much as she deserves. I have an uninstalled Invidia catted downpipe, Cobb AP and an appointment with Top Speed in Atlanta for install and a protune... I also have a Gold Plus Subaru warranty that was given to me courtesy of Subaru. Which way would you go? I hear the guy doing the tune is one of the best in the country but I also want some reliability. Thanks, OM

You can get a protune loaded to an AP and then use the AP to datalog. Not as cheap as a tactrix, but a lot of people do it.

The tune for those parts is reliable if you take the time to log and revise a few times and then check up every so often. I'm 20k mile in, no issues. If they are reliable they will make revisions so the individual car is healthy.

    TUNE IT UP!

Yeah I mean I am not going to lie. I would do the mods vs. keeping it stock. But you are on a forum that has a group of enthusiasts who, for the most part, like to modify their cars. I would probably wait at least a little while to make sure that I didn't have a lemon, and the stock engine components are not defective before I starting upping the power.

Many tuners will only tune AP or standalone for IP reasons.

Do you wanna take the chance with your warranty if something were to go wrong? Only you can make that choice.

For granted Top Speed has a great rap.

All good. It sounds like since you dont put many miles on the car you and since you have the warranty the years will probably expire before the miles. Many people use the OTS maps and have had a lot of success with it. I dont know how much power you want to make but if you are worried go with some suspension and handling upgrades.

    That's ^^^^ for sure!

If you like normal, reliable and not always having something to tweak a little.....don't mod. And if you are at all worried about warranty, don't mod. Otherwise, come on in, the water's warm down here.....or was that Zax pissing in the pool again?!?!

OP - TopSpeed is a good shop from what I've read. Many of my decisions have been based upon posts I've seen from them, as well.

It's your call whether to take your car over that way - there is no use asking for opinions from others. It seems you are well aware of the trade offs.
