Hey, new WRX owner and new to the car world as well.

Just thought I'd finally introduce myself. I purchased a silver 02' WRX about two weeks ago from a private seller. I hadn't bothered checking the battery out and of course it died on me a few days after I got it because it was five years old. Luckily I had the funds to replace it. The o2 sensor just went out as well acording to the scan gauge. Other then that everything is working including the fog lights. I'm not that knowledgeable about cars but I'm always looking to learn something new. All I know how to do is change the oil on the car haha. The previous owner put in a SPT Short Ram intake, lightglow in the driver & passenger footwells, scan gauge II and a pioneer avh-p3300bt.

Welcome! How long was it after you bought it before the check engine light came on with the O2 sensor issue?

Almost two weeks and I've driven it everyday. Before I searched the code up I thought I probably killed something in the engine because I had to teach myself stick which wasn't pretty. haha

Could be as simple as needing an anti-fouler, could be as "hard" as needing a new sensor.

I suggest ohm-Ing out the sensor first and if need be replace it with the universal 4 wire. It's easy work, and will cost less that doing a "factory" sensor.

Pm me if ya need help.

    Cheers

    Michael

Looks sharp! Which code number exactly? I've been battling one for quite a while now, only thing left for me to do is replace the sensor itself.

Thanks! P0420. I hope I don't have to replace the sensor.

SPT Short Ram intake, lightglow in the footwells, scan gauge II and a pioneer avh-p3300bt. The trunk is wired for a bass I believe but that's all that's been done to it.

Thanks! Your car looks clean, I like the vinyl and the wheels you put on it. How'd you black out your sidemarkers or did you buy some that. I've gotten a ton of ideas from browsing around so I'm eager to get started
