New WRX owner. Previous 05' GTO owner.

Hello all! Just purchased my first Subie this weekend. Gotta say, I love this car so far. Still in "break in" mode, but it is such a nice transition from my straight line piggy GTO. Handling is tight, car has pep, and with the SPT exhaust I still get a rumble. Gas mileage hasn't been great, but all I have done is drive in the city, stop, go, stop, go. Hopefully this will change once I start hopping on the highways again and after the engine break in. I look forward to getting to know this forum and getting my WRX up to speed.Click image for larger version.

Congrats on the new WRX. I went from a G8 GT (that had been "Holdenized") to the WRX. Has been a blast to get back into something really "nimble" that isn't primarily a straight line muscle car!

I would have kept the GTO.

Resident Clubdub Debbie Downer. I'd love your ideas if you kept them to yourself. Subarus suck, get a new wife.

Thanks! Yeah, I liked the GTO, but the WRX is much easier to maneuver around town in. It's much more "grippy" than the Goat and feels quicker to 60. I also have the short throw in the WRX, so now I don't feel like I'm rowing to shift. Can't wait to get some COBB add-ons.

Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed the Goat. However, it wasn't without its own QC issues. I had to get the ignition replaced twice due to a known problem in GTOs. First one GM covered, second one was on me. The Blaupunkt system was a joke. The long throws were tiresome. It was torque and high end fast, but "nimble" and GTO are not two words that should ever be in the same sentence. It served its purpose, and that was going really fast in a straight line.

I really like the Subaru thus far. I will upgrade the sound system without a doubt, but other than that its a very fun car. Gets just as many looks as the Goat.
