    Ridiculous Key?!

Good evening everyone. I like to keep my keychain down to a small size, but my 2012 STI just doesn't want to play nice... I now have my key in my car and only my key fob on my keychain so I can fit my keys in my pockets comfortably. Has anyone came up with a plan to reduce the key/fob to one piece like a normal vehicle?

    Don't wear skinny jeans...

I have three fobs, a bottle opener, and 12 keys on my keyring, and no issue with any pair of pants I have.

In my car IIRC if you leave the key in the ignition and only take the fob, the fob won't work to let you back in. I think I read that in the owner's manual or some subaru publication 10 years ago anyway.

I keep a light key ring too - just the minimum. All my keys for work are on another ring in my bag. Just the FOB hitting the interior plastic on bumps etc. is annoying as heck.

Possibly in his defense, It's hard not to wear skinny jeans when you are SKINNY. That's how it is for me anyway.

i did this mod a few months back and love it. i too hate a bunch of keys in my pocket. the switchblade key is the perfect size, not to mention it has a much more powerful transmitter.

I know you can buy one piece keys from the dealership. But it will cost you. But you bought an almost brand new STI so I'm sure you can afford it. If you can't you're doing it wrong.

This brings us to the root of the problem. Pants pockets are ever shrinking. I remember in the early to late 90's pants pockets went all the way down to your knee and were like 8" wide at the top. You could fit 4 beers in your front pockets and still walk, it was much more practical.

Now even for people who think skinny jeans are retarded (me), they have shrunk the pockets so that my iphone in my pocket looks like my leg has a rectangle tumor.

Anyone know of a brand of pants that fit loose and have useable pockets anymore?
