    NEW FROM UPSTATE NEW YORK

hey guys I just bought my first wrx , 2011 wagon from the dealer, excited to finally b in a Subaru one of my favorite cars growing up finally bit the bullet and got in one.

I wanna start building it I am an auto tech and obviously I don't wanna void my warranty,
when it comes to bolt ons im confident that ill be able to swap back on the stock equipment if need be
when it comes to engine management I was wondering if using the cobb ap will effect my warranty,
is there a way if need be that I can return all of the ecu data back to stock with out any trace of me ****ing with it if I need to get something warrantied?

thanks for the help guys and ill b willing to help other people with any other questions

Warranties can't be voided for simple aftermarket parts; claims can be denied, however. There is a difference.

As an auto tech, you'll know that it will be obvious that parts have been tampered with, so that won't do any good, if the service manager can infer the unauthentic part caused the issue.

What you're asking for information on is an attempt to defraud Subaru. If it's not something powertrain related, the fact that you've reflashed the ECU won't matter.

Alright so say I put a tune on it and for some odd reason BOOM the fact that the ecu is tampered with won't effect warranty?

Again, it's not an issue of you have no warranty if your car is modified. If the service department determines that unauthorized parts caused the failure, they can deny the claim. A reflashed ECU has nothing to do with your radio not working anymore.

If the dealership determines that the reflashed ECU caused the blown motor, they could deny the claim, but you would still have your warranty. See the above example.
