What's up guys my name is sean I'm from upstate New York near Syracuse. Rite now I'm sitting in my 08 Volkswagen rabbit just joined the forums.
I'm pretty excited cause I just finalized my purchase of my new '10 Rex.
Anywho 2 years ago I found myself buying an 08 used rabbit 47k on it. I loved it from day one. Interior exterior comfortability etc. Top to bottom in love. Not a ton of people understand love for a car but I did the day I test drove my dub. I've put probably 4k worth of mods and accessories. From exhaust to Sri to chip to tints projectors roof rack (snowboarding) touch screen navi. You name it. I also enjoyed the lifestyle that came along with it, the fanfare, the community. If you had a dub you were part of the club. I enjoyed seeing random people on the NYS thruway and traveling 300 miles with them bumper to bumper because they simply have the same make car as I did.
3 months ago I started a job which requires a lot of travel and boy I am racking up the miles. I felt like it was time for a new car. Also time for me to become a big boy and upgrade to a turbo.
I've looked far and wide for someone to sell me a gti. No one and i mean no one wants to haggle. The gti is part of some sick cultists lifestyle and the dealers act like you have to pay big bucks for the car.
After spending nearly 4 months looking test driving and bargaining for one I said **** Volkswagen. If they don't want to work with me I'll take my money someplace else.
Enter the Rex. I've always loved how subaru's looked. In fact as a young lad for some reason I can't even begin to imagine why, I loved the outback.
My first impression of the wrx, like. The lines the hood scoop, the rims, headlights all great. Sit down inside, really like. Very simple nothing technical no crazy bells or whistles which I like, similar to how vdubs are. Just a boost gauge, none of the gti's I've driven had one, pretty BA. Comfortable bucket seats as in my rabbit. 5 speed manual just like my rabbit.
Start up the engine pull out of the dealers. Start down the road going about 30 in a 55 I drop down to 2nd, this can't be much crazier then the gti can't it?
OMFG yes it can! LOVE! My dad **** himself in the passenger seat "sean you're going to kill yourself in this". My eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. I couldn't believe the power, the superiority of car above the gti. It isn't even a comparison even as far as price goes. From 0-120, all 5 gears are fun. I love this car. It's awesome. It's great. I cannot wait to pick it up Saturday and go through a tank of gas. This is what driving should be about. Fun. Excitement. Passion.
I still love my rabbit, and I hope it goes to a good home. Hopefully some eastern Euro doesn't rice it out. But that's not my problem. I think however my new wrx will be my second love of a car. I'll treat it like gold as I did my rabbit.
The last thing that the Rex is missing is the community. Which is why I started here and I feel this is the start of something good. This is where you guys come in. I am hoping the community is as tight knit as the dubbers. I hope to learn about the Rex a lot more and from you guys as well. Excited to be here.

Welcome and Congrats
Just don't ignorantly slam the car with stupid amounts of camber like 90% of the VDubs I see.

Welcome! One of the things I've always loved about Subarus is the community... always fun having people come up to me in the parking lot just to talk about cars.
