I came to this thread hoping, nay, dreaming that there might be someone else in the world with the same problem I have with my car...someone who could understand the pain...instead it is all just a joke

Nobody has the problem you got. Sorry, but you said it first: only one subie with VW wiring, and you have it...
You can't have everything - where would you put it?
I stopped at TP Stage 3 (which is just a EBCS and tune above stage 2 I think, with some more supporting mods) - but winter in Worcester, MA sucks because they never plow the roads...ever (true story). I find that I can spin all 4 of my winter tires pretty much at will in 1st and 2nd (and even 3rd sometimes if it's wet out) gear, which helps the speeding issue - since I don't have traction on my sucky winters. I find going sideways through school zones really helps the speeding issue, though.
I actually just bought a new motorcycle for commuting in decent weather, lol. We'll see how that goes.
A girl I work with who has an 08 WRX mentioned to me last night that on her way home from work her dash lit up like a christmas tree and her blinkers won't work anymore...It is really cold up here though, so I am not sure if there is something to do with that, but it reminded me of reading your post.

It was my poor attempt at humor people and just a commentary on how fun the car is to drive. And you don't need to worry about me I've owned motorcycles that had nearly as much HP as my WRX. So I understand the consequences and realities at least as much as the next guy.
