About to be a new WRX owner!

After 5 weeks of wondering what happened to my order through my dealership, my new WRX will be here and ready for me first thing tomorrow morning! I am too exited, but not excited to deal with the whole paperwork/financing and all that crap. But beyond that I will have my car in the morning. I can't wait, and mayyyy not get too much sleep in the morning.

I am trading up from a 2006 Scion tC. It's a great car, but 160 horses to the front wheels just isn't doing it for me. My WRX is a base hatchback in WR Blue and the only option I went for was the short shifter.

Welcome and congrats! Paperwork may not be too bad, I seem to recall mine went by pretty quickly and easily.

    Welcome and congrats!

Hope your paperwork isn't bad, remember there's a lot to put together...I'm a Subaru Finance Manager so I know. I always try to make it simple and easy, I've bought a lot of cars myself and think "How would I want the process to go?"

Awesome on the new ride my man, just got my '13 the day before yesterday...you will LOVE the car!

I just took delivery this morning, and I love it. Plus my dealer was awesome and didn't charge me extra for the couple extra options it came with, being it came from another dealer.(I got the red illumination kit, auto dimming mirror w/ compass, and a bumper cover at no cost) Plus it has the short shifter in it, and I HIGHLY recommend it. I test drove one without the short shifter and it just felt a bit sloppy. The short shifter just makes a big difference.

Sounds like you have a good dealer, that can make owning a new one a lot more enjoyable over the first few years if there are any issues.

Short shifter...I keep wondering if I should order one of those. I have 100 miles on mine but I don't think it feels sloppy?

I test drove a WRX about a year and a half ago without the short shifter. Maybe sloppy isn't the right word, but compared to my old car thats all I could think of. My old car being a '06 Scion tC. But driving around today I love the short shifter, it is awesome and definitely worth looking into. My issue is getting used the such a light springy clutch. I've stalled more times today then I did in nearly 4 years with my old car.

I would have taken dark grey, but I really wanted WR blue. It seems like a common choice for WRX/STI owners, but when you see it in person it looks so good. I love the choice I made

    What's your previous car history?

Just to clarify, I ask because if I had come to the wrx with only the experience of the first car I drove manual on (1991 sentra) then I wouldn't consider the shifting feel to be bad.

But with the cars I've driven since, and 6 years of my rsx-s, my opinion of the stock shift feel is a little different

Between 5-6 weeks. This was only because I got lucky and found what I wanted at another dealer and got it worked out. Right before I did a search at other dealers I was told my car was going to be built in December and be delivered in January. There was no way I was going to wait that long, given I had already been waiting 5 weeks(and that felt like a really long time)
