I'd pick an Impreza, Mazda 3 or Ford Focus (yes... seriously... they are sooo fun to drive).

I'd also like to give you some major Kudos for realizing (or your parents/insurance realizing ) that the WRX isn't a good teenager car. As a matter of fact.. just repped you +1

No WRX in the near future.

I would steer clear of most 2008-2009 Subaru's. They had too many issues.

Have you looked into an 06-07 Impreza? They came in a wagon and with the Hawkeye front end they look pretty awesome!

yes i have, i was actually looking at a 07 wagon on craigslist, and they look very good. I still haven't decided, but am generally leaning to a newer model, just not 2012-2013, as i find them very ugly.
Hope to one day be the owner of a WRX!

2012-2013 look exactly the same as 2011 except for the headlights.

also, the 2012 and 2013 have smaller engines, which is not good.

No problem haha. I cant believe that there are no 5-speed imprezas around in my area. most of them are automatic. is there a topic about where to look for used cars?

Re: No WRX in the near future.

I believe the manual is standard. Automatic is an option. But the auto is more popular which is why it is hard to find a manual at a dealer.

It is a good car. Lots of interior space. I test drove one. Mpg is fantastic. Handling is decent. The hatch looks a lot better & more practical IMO.

If you're not wanting to spend a ton of money I had a GK model (2003-2008) Hyundai Tiburon for 7 years before my WRX and loved it.

It looked amazing, handled well enough, The V6 was peppy enough for every day driving and reliable enough that I didn't spend and arm and leg on repairs. Plus, maintenance was simple and cheap.
