I get the tuning aspect of it since it affects back pressure and the BOV is basicaloly wasting air dumping it out in turn causing the engine to dump more fuel than needed.. the diffs I could see if the tires them selves were different but they are all the same 215/30's.

The total diameter (Φ) does have to be the same.

Since one set us wider but the tyres are the same size it is not improbable that your Φ is unequal. That would be my only worry. Since there is rubbing now that would only get worse if you fitted taller tyres.

    I'd measure to be sure.

People run unequal widths with AWD. Running the wide set up front could reduce understeer for autox, for example. Simpler to sell the wide set and buy two more of the narrower set though.

This is what I was trying to get at, just worded a lot better.

Meh, I would still have everything checked. If the previous owner did all that without a tune who know what else was done.

Agreed. Ive already called my local dealer to schedule a detailed point inspection.

now that weve clarified different widths are acceptable as long as the overall diameter of the tire is the same. does anyone recommend of have a solution to my issue for the rims. As i see it right now i have a two options but tell me if im wrong.

    1. Get the 9" wide version of the same tire (so that it beads properly to the side wall) with the same diameter and possibly have the fenders rolled with a combination of a camber kit to avoid the tire shreading? (have no idea...hoping someone could chime in)

    2. Try and find the same rims with the 8" width to match the front.

I'd do the second provided you have four equally worn tyres that you can still use. This is because you have rubbing with the wider rim anyway. Or, I'd do the second plus four new tyres. Third choice, four new wheels all the same with for equal same worn tyres; fourth choice new rims new tyres all the same all around, hope that makes sense.

I think im gonna end up finding the 8" version of my same rims... another question though...anyone know what kind of rims those are?! not a brand name or anything on them. makes me think he just went to the ghetto and found a set on sale and said slap em on. I noticed that the stock rims for my car are 7"... does anyone have trouble running the 8" in the back? or do i need a different offset?

Take a wheel off and look at the back. A lot of manufacturers put a brand stamp on the back.

Welcome and good luck! I got nothing for you on those wheels, I don't know much about manufacturers.

Nah, that just means they meet certain standards:

The brand is usually on the center cap on aftermarket wheels, but I don't even see any caps on your wheels. Keep looking....
