    Hey Folks

    Hey All,

Joined up here because I was actually scowering the internet for a How To: DIY Hella Supertone wiring harness.

I've got an '11 WRX DGM hatchback. It's currently stock performance with a few bells and whistles (Rally Armour Flaps, Perrin adjustable shift knob, Pioneer AVH-4400bh radio, and a fresh pair of Hella Supertones I'm now looking to install.

Once the 2012 bonus and/or tax returns get in, I intend on going Stage2 with a full TBE. Nothing else too crazy planned as this baby is my DD.

So I take it you now have the guru schema for installation of your horns? Otherwise, either the stock wires can be traced to origin and replaced with 10awg or 12awg (and fuses rated for the job) dependant on 2 or 4 SuperTone units being installed, or a whole new harness can be fabricated during installation of the inevitable steering hub adapter and it's horn plunger adapter along with the fresh aftermarket racing wheel you'll end up using (kidding)

If you don't have the data to get those horns in there, either Kronos (always reliable), myself, or the severals of other members who have done this can help.

You'll love the sound. Others will not.
Mostly why you'll love the sound...

If you have never touched a wire in your life, and have never used a crimper, or heard of a wire terminal or a relay, this install might take up to an hour. If it takes longer, you are doing a good job, unless it takes more than a day. Then you either didn't have the hardware you want to do this with, or we need to meet up with you and bring our tools...

Nice thing you will find on this site, people will help you, and won't call you stupid if you don't know what something is.
If they do, we will all burn them in a public place while chanting curses and spells at their familes. (Mostly kidding)

welcome to the club and good luck with the Hella horns. I run a pair, and they are a peaceful and powerful solution to anything bad going on in front of a Subaru.

Thank you for the very warm welcome. I came across a few images here but if there's a definitive DIY thread I should be sure to check out, I'm all ears

I've got experience crimping cat5 networking cable and small(er) scale soldering (mostly LED's and a few resistors) but I'm no expert. I've seen the typical cube relay a few times now but I haven't sat down and truly understand how it works/what it does. I'm confident I can do whatever's necessary, but A)as you mentioned, I'm not sure I have all the right tools to make this go smooth, and B)I can be so detail oriented that if I don't know every specific detail, I will question whether what I'm doing is the right way or not

    Welcome to the forum.

The hella supertone install is quite simple. There are pre fabricated harnesses available. But it is a lot cheaper to make one yourself.

If you look in the thread in my sig, there is a description of how to do the install ,Post #12
