Hi guys, a 2012 wrx optioned how i want popped up near me yesterday. Should I jump on it or wait? I'm moving and starting a new job in a few weeks (would trailer it out there). My concern: new apartment wont have a garage space until october and there is construction in the area (more likely to get flats and rock chips). If I wait until later, I'll be forced to get a 2013 and I'd prefer a 2012 (new platform/engine reasons). Suggestions?

It's not a good investment to buy a new car when starting a new job. Just my .02. If you have reliable transportation, I'd stick with that. You can always get a lightly used 2012 in about a year.

OP might only feel comfortable investing in brand new cars.

If you can drive a deal that makes sense, get the '12 now. When ordering closed for the '12's the deals seemed to have dried up considerably. With the '13 orders coming soon, you may get a deal, in which case, it would make perfect sense to pick it up. There will always be construction, garage space, and other issues to consider. I wouldn't let those issues sway my desire.

Well I wanted to get a new one (financially stupid I know) just for the pristine factor. And if I wait a few months I'll be in MY2013 territory.

Yeah i know is not be smartest decision, but my financial situation is decent and I've been promising myself this car for years while working on my MS degree. But yes, smart advice to wait.

I thought the 2013 where going to have no major changes? Where did you hear it was going to be a new platform and engine?

I would at least wait until your probation period is over, what if you get let go and you have a brand new car to pay for with no job?

i wouldnt buy a brand new WRX without a garage or at least a safe parking area safe from debris. for me cars are a big investment and i like to keep them in the best shape possible, plus i wouldnt spend that much until i knew the job was secure and comfortable with the new house

Thanks guys. Job is secure and non-grage parking is safe. I'm very very particular about my cars, so yes my biggest concern was it getting dirty or rock chips or anything else
