04 STi Vs. 06 STI?

I've recently started searching for a new vehicle and i think i've come down to these two listed below. My dilemna is which would be better for price vs. performance.

04 Subaru Impreza Wrx STi -$19000* give or take negotiation
2004 WRX STi LOW MILES!

or


06 Subaru Impreza Wrx STI -bid currently at $12,100 but will spike near the end of the bid. (not looking to spend more than $20,000)

I like speed, acceleration is key for me. My buddies got an 04 WRX but definitely want to go with the STi's.

Has the 04 been tuned? It mentions an turbo back exhaust but no mention of engine management


The 06 looks good. Low mileage for the year. Im pretty sure the auction will exceed $20,000 though

That's a good question i'll have to ask the owner. If no tuning was done, where should i go from there? Forget about it? Hope for the best on the 06 bid?

I personally wouldn't buy a car that wasn't modified properly. The 06 would be a better deal assuming you can get it for 20k

If it is tuned is that price range accurate for the 04? I don't want to be throwing away money i could eventually use in the long run for upgrades.

definitely find out if its tuned samerman,if it was tuned correctly then id say go for it,heres my advice though when getting a performance based car (WRx,WRX STI) i would spend some extra money and if its okay with the owner get the motor inspected and fully tested. and have the car inspected
it will give you a peace of mind of knowing the car is running right, and it could potentially save you alot of money in the long run if something is wrong with the car
