    steering wheel and tires lockin up

    hey there.. i just joined.. i am in desperate need to know if anyone has ever heard of the steering wheel and the tires locking up on a 2009 subaru legacy..this has happened 3 times while driving..the car does not stall or die and gives no warning..any ideas? thank u

    Sounds like a possible failed power steering pump? How fast were you going? Also.. By tires locking up, do you mean the wheels would not change direction left to right in correspondence with the steering rack?

    That's dangerous...stop driving it. It sounds like your EPS is going. Is it under warranty? It could also be the drive belt slipping or the pulley itself. Noises? Smells? Anything else to go on? wet/dry outside/temperature?

    no smell.. no noise.. no warning.. it could b wet or dry out..i was doin 25-30 and yes ..the wheels or steering wheel would not turn..they just locked up.. and no its not under warranty nomore.. only has a 3 year..n it was about 65 out
