My buddy Clay is a really tiny guy...he had a hard time pressing my stock STI clutch when I let him drive it around the block. He pulled back up saying his calf cramped. All I smelled was burnt clutch

Those are awesome examples! My wife generally doesn't drive the car, and knows if she kept asking like that, she'd never get behind the wheel. I "let her" from time to time to appease her desires. Right now we're looking for a "fun car" for her to drive instead of the minivan. I think that'll do the trick.

I've told my wife she can drive it, but it's been so long since she drove a manual that I don't think she feels too comfortable. Fine by me - keep my miles down and the car in my hands ... where it should be.

This is my situation too. I've tried everything. I've stalled out on purpose with her in the car, "this is the worst you'll do hun!" With the acura at every stage of it's life I made the argument that it was the perfect time to try; "It's only got 30k miles on it, it's still nice and new and in good shape! I promise you it won't break!" "It's around 80k miles, so it's about when I will be needing to replace the clutch anyways!" "It's over 100k, the clutch is way overdue to be replaced hun, I don't care if you somehow break it!"

Her argument for all those was still "I don't want to break it."

Ditto. I'm fine with my wife driving the WRX..if she crashes it up, we'll head for Hendrick Porsche after she checks out of the hospital. It will be the strongest bargaining time I've had in years.

That's assuming the police don't notice the cut brake lines.

My wife claims motion sickness from riding in my car....yet, she says its only when she's a passenger. If I let her drive, she's fine. Uh.....huh.

Fantastic! This is the ideal situation! You're very fortunate. I'd let her drive anywhere/everywhere all the time.
