Definitely spend the money on a clean bugeye and some minor mods (protune, maybe stage 2, etc.) You'll get better mileage (2.0l engine, the tune will help a lot), you'll have more room for improvements, and believe me, they do look better.
I think the wrx is a nice middle-ground between compact economy car and sports car - it's a 4-cyl car that gets decent mileage for AWD, it's crazy useful (try sticking a full-size couch on top of a civic), and if you downshift and give it a good kick with your right foot, you'll get an instant smile!

Your scenery > my scenery. I really need to get the wagon up to the mountains and take picture while some body panels have shiny spots left.![]()

I'd just hate to see him get a corolla over a 2012 impreza because he thinks its more "sensible"... the new impreza is the same price as either of those cars and gets the same mileage but has AWD standard, pretty sensible if you ask me. SD if you drove the new Impreza back to back with a 2012 civic there is NO WAY you would go for the Honda trust me, I have driven both and it is not even close.
Nice ride mycologist! if I had a dollar for every time I saw a yellow bugeye wagon, Id have a whole $2![]()

Thanks everybody
It was a really really low run for wagons - 500-1000? Where I live is an epicenter for Subarus. I actually saw one pass by while I was in mine. The guy and I looked at each other dumbfounded, and it was obvious we were both afraid we had distorted the time-space continuum.
