you have about 15K miles before it is due....save up.

It really depends on how mechanically inclined, and how patient you are. It would also depend on what kind of tools you have at your disposal.

    scale of 1 to 10, probably around a 7 to 8.

You will have to disassemble most of the front of your engine, and remove at least the radiator hoses and shroud just to get to the belt.....then remove the belt and install the new one .....while you are in there, you should replace your water pump hydraulic tensioner and idler pulleys....all those parts come in kits

Any suggestions on where to get a kit to give it a try and all the parts to replace? And how to learn how to do it. I'd really like to be able to fix my own car when something goes wrong. Thanks for your help

Shop all site vendors for price and kit content. I got mine from Oakos because their price was very low and they were reputable but there are others, shop.

Go to Subaru for thermostat, thermostat gasket, and water pump gasket.

Search every Subaru site for DIY pictorial threads and read each a million times before attempting this. Have a friend, you will need the extra hands and misery loves company.
