Remember that for bolt ons you're going to need a tune.

You have to pull the engine to replace the clutch in a WRX and/or STi?

    no.

You have to pull the tranny. You DO however have to remove the top mount, and remove bolts from bell housing from the top side before you lift the car up to do the rest.

I was going to say...that seemed awefully strange. I just pulled the trans on my jeep myself, so I know the basics of doing it.

It sounds like you need to do a lot more thinking and research to decide what you want to do, then come back and post once you've decided. You're all over the place in terms of what you're saying you (might) want to do...

yeah rather than dropping the trans from under neath. i have access to a lift at my work but i want to take my time not be rushed. so rather than dropping it im going to pull the engine in a garage. ill be able to take my time. do tune up while everything is easily accessed. ive been looking up how to do the clutch and ive got mixed reviews on dropping the trans.

For COBB you have to follow their map notes exactly or you're car will not operate correctly. Start with a power goal then go from there and you'll have more options available.
