Congrats on the new (to you) car!

The STI exhaust isn't going to improve your HP at all. Where is PDX btw?

Your best route to improve performance is going to be stage 2 (TBE + tune). I'd keep a sharp eye out for used parts and you can usually get things pretty cheap. On my old STi, by being patient I found a used Cobb TBE and AP for $900 total (from 2 diff people). If I'd bought the same parts new, it would've been $2150!

That's what Google said too but I don't understand why you wouldn't just put Portland OR. Is it a PDX thing?

PDX is the airport code; "PDX" is less typing than "Portland, OR"

Whaaaa? There is an unbelievable amount of things you can do to your car. Going stage 2 is the basis for all of that. Save up, buy a TBE and get a tune and your car will be a different animal

^^ I agree. Up pipe, downpipe, and accessport.... or if you're in PDX... go to PDX tuning.

Hell... while you're in there buy a humungous turbo and a new engine and transmission

I don't understand why you've concluded that. The parts suggested can be found used for a few hundred dollars, and you do not need a tune to fit an exhaust on your car. I recommend you look at the link in my signature for more info. You can get a significant increase in power for less than $1K USD, and much less if you shop carefully and select the right components.

I don't believe PDX tuning is still open, but you can hit up Performance Race Engineering (PRE) in Portland. Erich and Bobby are great guys and definitely can show you a couple VERY fast 03 WRXs

I'm not from Portland nor have I ever lived there, but I've heard of PRE many times and they have an excellent reputation.
