    Hello There

    Currently driving an 08' Accord Coupe EX-L. 25K miles

    Financial situation has changed and need to unload my car payments, so I'm in the market for a WRX. Current car is worth almost 19K and I still owe 4K.

    Always loved WRX's, almost bought one about 7 years ago before I ended up buying a new Civic at the time.

    So, I guess what I'm asking is can I still get a nice WRX for 15K, under 80K on the odometer? Checked out Autotrader in my area (Washington, D.C.) and only found 2 that met my criteria.

    Any year's to avoid? Any paint colors to avoid, I seem to remember there being a problem when I was looking a few years back? Suggestions?

    Welcome! Those criteria are pretty frequent ones people look for, so cars for sale like that usually go pretty quickly. So what it sounds like is you're trying to basically get to no car payments by selling the Honda and taking the $15k from the sale and using that to buy the car for cash? Another thing to consider is that if you have any high interest loans (like credit cards) you'd be better off paying those off and taking a loan on the Subaru. Used car loan rates are super low right now.

    The main thing to avoid is a car that was modded or is still modded. A lot of people pull the modded parts off the cars to sell them since they can get more money selling the parts separately, plus non-modded cars are easier to sell. The easiest way to tell if the car was modded before is to look if it still has the stock heatshield on the turbo. Those must be removed when you put on an aftermarket DP and usually don't make it back on the car if they're put back to stock.

    Other than that, just make sure to have it inspected by a good mechanic before buying it, just like you should do with any used car.

    Luckily, I have no debt, other than this car note. Got through college with no loan. Lost my job, so income is at "0" now. No mortgage. So, life is looking alright at the moment, 300 dollars on my American Express and 4,000 on a car worth 19,000. I count my blessings every day.

    Anyway, back to the real question, should I avoid any years? How does the turbo on the WRX's hold up after 70,000+?
