    Winter Tire Information

    Hi!,

Im getting ready for winter and looking at tire rack for some snow tires/ steel wheels. However when I fill in my car info, the suggested rims are 16". I have stock 17" and the manual suggests using the same size wheels. Will I have any issues riding on 16's? What do you guys do in the winter?

    Thanks,
    Candice

What year wrx do you have? if its an 08+, going down to the recommended 16in size is fine (lots of us do it) and it will also be cheaper too.
Find used rims from an older wrx (04/05) on here or NASIOC, it will give you a better look than steelies IMO, unless you have the money to buy a second set of rims

Using 16" wheels are fine as long as your wheel/tire radius match for the set of 4. I run 17's as a personal preference(lots of people go with 16s). Just keep in mind that your selection of winter tires dwindle down and tire price goes up the bigger wheel you go.

Also 16" wheels does not mean that you're running smaller radius tires. The aspect ratio of the tire changes to match the stock 17" wheel/tire combo radius.
