I currently have a Mazda RX8 but im looking to get out of the rotary fun =p. The WRX is what im looking to purchase in the next few months or 2012. I know subaru's are reliable and a good car but am wondering as to what special care these require. The Rotary has to be babied and even then it can be problematic. The boxer engine by subaru obviously is exclusive to them, so does this mean it will require special attention/specialty mechanic/subaru only dealer? The closest Subaru dealer to me is 110 miles, so im going to be changing my own oil, or can I trust the local joe to change the oil for this engine? When purchasing one is their much haggle room on the price or are they firm close to msrp due to low supply? I'm sure ill think of more questions but these are the main ones, any info is appreciated )

Nothing close to the car needed for a Rotary. I'm saying this as someone who almost bought an RX-7 and spent hours of research on Rotary engines.

Just use good synthetic fluids and follow your normal car care.

When you get it and need your fluids, come and see me

As far as pricing, its really up to the dealer. Each dealer is independent and their practices vary.

I use redline for transmission, is the stock transmission fluid good or should I replace asap? What kind of oil should be used in this car, The mazda requres 5w20 oil and regular fill ups lol. I like castrol GTX. Is the stock clutch good on the car or should it be replaced with a preformance clutch down the road?

People have their preferences but as long as its synthetic, you'll probably alright.

Your transmission won't blow up or anything but you'll have a better driving experience on good synthetic fluids for motor and transmission/rear differential.

I personally like the ENEOS Motor Oil and Gear Fluid which I use in my 2005 WRX. Stock clutch is fine, just don't drive crazy and you'll be fine. Avoid hard launches.
