Protection for off road

I was wondering if people have modified their cars so they could take it off road. It is an awd car inspired by a rally car. I was thinking about installing a skid plate, but I was wondering what others have done. I am sure there are some suspension upgrades as well.

Those three are the more common upgrades for one looking to off-road.

Not yet, I'm planning on the thicker skid plate once I do the suspension on my car though. I drive in/out of shipyards a lot and with the car a little lower I'm worried about catching things that could do damage. Esp since the factory oil pan is hangin down there like a ballsack in the wind. No bueno for really crowned, beat up roads and low car. I'd much rather dent a skid plate that I can hammer back out vs ripping off an oil pan.
